Research carried out by the Arts Society shows that active volunteering makes a difference to the heritage and cultural life of the UK.  TASWE members support this aim as follows:

Heritage

A member has been volunteering at the Library of the Society of Friends (Quakers) in London for many years where she carries out basic conservation work on their vast collection of pamphlets and periodicals relating to World Wars I and II. GIBBERD GARDEN

18 members recently visited the Gibberd Garden and spent a marvellous few hours being shown round some of the sculptures in the garden by Lynn and the very well maintained house and contents by Gill.  An introductory talk given by Cherith of Sir Frederick's rise to fame was most interesting.  After a delicious lunch we were left to wander around the 9 acre garden to discover more hidden treasures.  You can see some photos of our visit if you click here (gallery 5).  All our guides were volunteers (Gill is a TASWE member) and they are seeking more people to join them.  If you might be interested please contact Lis Goodwin. 

COPPED HALL APPLE DAY - 12 October 2025

Thank you to the members who volunteered to be on our stand at the Copped Hall Apple Day.

We all felt that this was a successful day. A record number of visitors attended, encouraged by the glorious weather. There was a lovely atmosphere, with lots of people out to enjoy themselves. 

We all managed to get children to try a trail and it will be interesting to see who contacts us regarding membership. We met some likely candidates. 

We hope to be at Copped Hall Apple Day again this year, on Sunday 11 October 2026

We will be looking into more ways like this to promote TASWE. Please contact us if you know of local events that may be suitable.
